We are pleased to announce that Katie Hop has accepted the position of Sunday Sessions Director at Plymouth UCC. We are certain that Katie’s skills and experience are an excellent match for our congregation’s children & youth ministry!
Katie is a mother, wife, coffee aficionado, social justice advocate, loquacious introvert, supernerd, office supply hoarder, and storyteller. She is passionate about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, LGBTQ+ advocacy, mental health access, and serving others. She cares deeply about teaching the values that Jesus displayed to his community; compassion, empathy, kindness, justice, acceptance, and unconditional love.
Katie has a Bachelor of Arts in Ministry Leadership from Cornerstone University and an Associate degree in Early Childhood Education. She has been working with children since she was a teenager from running church nurseries, teaching Sunday School, working in childcare centers, leading preschool classrooms, and nannying. She also has extensive experience recruiting and training volunteers.
During the week, you can find Katie working at KConnect, the county’s Collective Impact backbone organization focused on closing racial disparity gaps for children and families in our community. When she’s not working, she’s probably watching Schitt’s Creek or Doctor Who, reading, or sitting on the patio enjoying the sunshine. Katie lives on the northeast side of Grand Rapids with her husband, Chad, eight-year-old son, Noah, and two dogs.
