Black History Month: Building the Beloved Community

The Racial Equity Committee invites you to join us in a short (30-40 minute) breakout session during the Sunday Fellowship time each week during the month of February. We will be hosting discussions about different aspects of American history and specifically how that history has affected African American communities. Following some of the ideas of Dr. King’s “Beloved Community” to set the focus for each week’s conversation, we will be talking about Health, Housing, Food Scarcity/Hunger, and Education.

This week, we will have a discussion about Education. We hope to explore the historical context, current factors, and hopefully identify some ways that we can all – as a church and as individuals – work to create a society based on justice, equal opportunity, and love of one’s fellow human beings.
