Contact your elected officials

Elections have consequences. And those elected to office must act on behalf of their constitutents. Of course, they don't know what you want unless you tell them. lets you type in your address and select from a list of current issues; it then generates a list of your relevant Members of Congress, their phone numbers, and even a script you can use to say what you want to say.

The United Church of Christ and Nuclear Weapons

August 6 and August 9 mark the anniversaries of the only two instances where nuclear weapons were used as a tool of warfare. The UCC has been against nuclear weapons since our beginning.

Our witness to the dangers of nuclear weapons began with the global witness of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, has continued through our solidarity with the victims of the US atomic testing in the Marshall Islands (1946-1958), to today with our advocacy for a denuclearized Korean Peninsula and an Iran without nuclear weapons. We will continue this work until it is no longer necessary. (Excerpted from The Sin of Nuclear Weapons by Rebekah Choate.)
