Black Lives Matter in Grand Rapids

Join this on-going demonstration with members of Plymouth Church, All Souls, Fountain Street, and Westminster at the corner of Monroe and Monroe Center (by the Rosa Parks statue). The group gathers the first Wednesday of every month. Placards and signs are provided.

An Evening of Jazz with Edye Evans Hyde and Elgin Vines

Two of Grand Rapids’ premier Jazz artists, Edye Evans Hyde and Elgin Vines, unite their talents for an evening of superb music to benefit programs at All Souls Community Church. Their concert promises to warm the heart and tap inner joy. A social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. with the concert following at 6:30 p.m.Tickets are $20. Living Liberation:Building Resistance
In the next few months, Living Liberation will focus around a model of watching a movie or video, followed by discussing and learning together. Sessions at Reconciliation Metropolitan Community Church will take place on Sunday's from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. and at Plymouth from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Below is our planned curriculum. Ash Wednesday Service
March 1, 6:30 p.m.
Plymouth will hold an Ash Wednesday service in the sanctuary. This is a service of meditation at the beginning of Lent. The imposition of ashes will be available.

Using the unfinished final manuscript of writer James Baldwin, this documentary by Raoul Peck delves into the legacy of Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr., and Medgar Evers and their impact on what it means to be black in America. Check the theater for show times.
